Oostpoort Amsterdam
Oostpoort is the redevelopment of the former Eastern Gasworks site in Amsterdam-Oost into a vibrant, mixed-use urban district. Where gas was once produced, an entire neighbourhood has emerged — a contemporary blend of living, working, shopping and meeting.
The project comprises approximately 750 apartments, around 18,000 m² of retail, hospitality and community amenities, and a large underground car park with 870 spaces. The mix of uses makes Oostpoort a fully fledged neighbourhood, where residents and visitors meet around the new shopping square and canal.
Oostpoort is a joint development by BPD, Ymere and Stadgenoot. On behalf of BPD, we were involved in the development and leasing of the retail centre.
The urban plan and architecture were designed by a team of renowned practices, including Soeters Van Eldonk, Mulleners + Mulleners and Molenaar & Van Winden. Together they crafted a design that combines the site's historic industrial identity with the contemporary scale of the city.
