Stadshart Amstelveen Amstelveen
Stadshart Amstelveen is the large-scale expansion of the shopping centre in the heart of Amstelveen. Retail, hospitality and amenities are combined with housing, offices and culture to form a fully-fledged city centre.
The programme includes approximately 21,000 m² of retail, hospitality and amenities — among which a cultural strip of about 15,000 m² with the library, the Cobra Museum and an extension of the theatre. On top of that, 35,000 m² of offices and 400 homes have been added, together with an underground car park with 2,200 spaces.
Stadshart Amstelveen is a public-private partnership between the municipality of Amstelveen and MAB. On behalf of MAB, we were involved in the development, execution and leasing of the retail and residential components.
The architecture is the work of, among others, Architectengroep, Benthem Crouwel, Quadrat and Atelier PRO. The result is a rich and layered city centre that connects functions in a natural way.
